We met in a hardware aisle twenty four years ago. Neither of us expected to find a future best friend and business partner there. But we had plenty to talk about: homes, design and the excitement of finding just the right thing.
We are Dawn and Sherry, the friends behind Style Shack in Highland Park and the founders of Maven Home. That chance meeting eventually became two businesses. Style Shack was where we first turned our shared love of shopping and interiors into something we could share with you.
A friendship with plenty of inspiration
Dawn grew up in South Africa. Sherry was raised in a well travelled family and is fluent in Spanish. Our backgrounds and travels have always influenced what catches our eye, from a beautiful color combination to an unexpected detail on a familiar object.
We also discovered that we both really, really love to shop. Finding something fabulous is exciting. Finding someone who is just as excited about it makes it even better.
Seventeen years ago, we opened Style Shack. Highland Park became the home for our ideas, our discoveries and a business that continues to grow with us.
The pleasure of finding the right gift

Our love of interiors is just as much a part of the store. We can help with shelf styling and choosing home decor that works with the pieces you already enjoy. Sometimes a small change, such as a vase with a beautiful shape or a little color beside your books, is all a corner needs.
The Paris trip that inspired Maven Home
Attending Maison&Objet in Paris had been a dream of ours for years. When we finally went, we came home inspired, slightly overwhelmed and convinced that we wanted to create a collection of our own.
That idea became Maven Home.
Our years at Style Shack had taught us what people enjoy living with and giving. We brought that experience to a collection full of the things we love, especially acrylic, entertaining and color. We wanted beautiful, useful pieces with personality and a sense of fun.
Today, we own both businesses. Maven Home is our own collection, while Style Shack is our Highland Park store, bringing together gifts, jewelry and home decor from a range of brands, including Maven Home. Both reflect the same curiosity that brought us together in the first place.
